APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Near West Intergenerational School is a public charter school, open to all students living in the State of Ohio. Student placement is based on their stage of learning (not necessarily their previous grade level). This is determined through standardized and/or formative assessment. Assessments are used for the sole purpose of determining the correct learning stage placement and NOT for selection purposes. Any applicant who cannot be offered a space in the appropriate learning stage will be placed on the waiting list in the order their application was received. Upon submission of the complete application form and paperwork, required information sessions (for parents/guardians of new students) will take place at Near West Intergenerational School or The Intergenerational School (dates to be announced to applicants). In addition, a required Family Handbook Orientation session is necessary before the child attends school. In order to complete enrollment, parent/guardian will complete, with the assistance of school personnel, any additional procedures needed to obtain a transfer of records (including health records required by law) from the student's previous school and to notify the appropriate school district of the child's enrollment in Near West Intergenerational School. School/preschool observations and educational assessments may also be conducted.
