Families play an important role in the education of their children at TIS. In fact, we have had 100% parent/guardian participation in teacher conferences every year!
Our school is a true community school because all parents, students, and teachers are stakeholders in the environment, growth and success of the school. - TIS Parent
Parent participation is welcome at TIS. Teachers encourage continuous feedback and dialogue. After school pick-ups are one of the many times that parents and teachers can have a quick check-in on a child’s progress. Daily student/teacher logs are often sent home with children as another way to touch base. Click here for additional parent resources.
Parents are welcome volunteers. Have a talent you’d like to share? Interested in being a reading mentor, library aide or room parent? Contact Eric McGarvey ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 216.721.0120) or click here for current volunteer opportunities.
Parents are welcome at TIS. All through the year, the extended TIS Family comes together for several family friendly events. Click here to read about these family events which give children a chance to model civic behaviour with peers and adults.
All parents are considered members of the TIS Parent Group. The Parent Group helps coordinate parent volunteering and sponsors family events. At the beginning of the year, parents agree to volunteer at least 10 hours to support the TIS extended community. Click here for more information about the Parent Group.
- Parents are invited to attend monthly Parent Group meetings at TIS on the first Wednesday of every month from 6-8pm in the TIS lunchroom. You may also become a friend of the TIS parents group on Facebook.
