TIS is based on the idea that a school should be a place of community and lifelong learning for anyone regardless of age. We welcome "learners of all ages" and strive to create an environment where children learn well, parents participate eagerly, and the community is engaged and energized through volunteering.  The immediate TIS community includes over 650 community members:

  • 224 K-8 students
  • Over 250 lifelong learners (mostly senior citizens) throughout the Cleveland area
  • More than 175 families
  • 28 teachers and staff
  • 12 committed and dedicated board members

The Intergenerational School receives various types of federal funding to carry out our mission in partnership with our community.  The work of the committees is posted here to keep the TIS community informed.

TIS is a community of lifelong learners.  In 2011, we celebrate this with the Lifelong Learning Series at TIS, a four session series of family fairs.  Parents, Teachers, Mentors and Students all learning together.  To learn more about the Lifelong Learning Series at TIS, click here

What We Are Saying

"There’s nothing more powerful than changing the way your mind thinks. It’s putting power in the hands of a child. Unlocking for that child the power and self-esteem that comes from knowing how to learn something:  ‘I couldn’t do this before... then I worked hard...and now I can do it.’  No matter what, those are life attitudes that will lead them in the right direction. No matter what, we're all learners, and that should be the tie that binds us as people.”
