The Intergenerational School is an Ohio community school or "charter" school. This means that TIS is a public school and serves any resident of eligible schooldistricts who chooses to attend. There is no screening or selection process other than a random lottery if needed.
The Intergenerational School responds to several needs in our society:
The need for excellent and rigorous educational opportunities for children and other learners of all ages.
-
The need for family and community involvement in and support of public education.
-
The need for strong intergenerational connection throughout society.
-
The need for expanded opportunities for older adults to contribute to the younger generation through meaningful volunteer and mentoring experiences.
The Intergenerational School
fosters an educational
community of excellence
that provides experiences
and skills for lifelong
learning and spirited
citizenship for learners
of all ages.
